Late Night with Hussar
During the wee hours of the Dr. Sketchy’s Marathon (Saturday night from 2:00 AM until whenever), Michael Hussar will be creating an alla prima portrait. Alla prima is a dynamic technique by which a painting is completed in a single session. Artists attending the marathon may choose to passively observe Hussar’s methods, or to actively paint right along side him. This is a unique opportunity to gain insight into Hussar’s work, especially since Hussar prefers to paint late at night. Hussar’s alla prima session is included in the cost of the marathon, which is $35 at the door.
Dr. Sketchy’s Marathon will run continuously for 26 hours beginning at 8:00 PM on Saturday, January 2nd and ending at 10:00 PM on Sunday, January 3rd. The event will be hosted at Nucleus, located at 210 E. Main Street, Alhambra, CA 91801. Attendees will be issued wrist bands that will allow them to come and go as they please.
